Abigail Hemsley-Jardine

Orenda Lethbridge, Facilitator/Alumni

Abby Hemsley-Jardine is an Orenda Bloom teacher, bringing with her a deep connection to the program she once participated in as a student. Having worked with Orenda for the past four years and been part of the program for five years herself, Abby understands the transformative power of this experience firsthand. She is currently pursuing degrees in mathematics and education, and has spent the last two summers working at a summer camp, where her passion for guiding and inspiring youth has continued to flourish.

Abby holds a first aid certificate, a clean criminal record, and has completed the Orenda teacher training program. One of her proudest achievements is her time as an Orenda Youth Ambassador, which deepened her desire to support and empower young women.

She brings a unique perspective to her role, drawing from her own experience as a young woman navigating societal pressures. Known for being funny, uplifting, and confident, Abby has a way of connecting with her students through compassion and fun, helping them feel safe and understood.

Outside of Orenda, Abby loves art, baking, and working out. She is passionate about helping young girls develop the confidence and self-love they deserve, and believes in empowering them to be who they truly are. Her long-term goal is to become a high school math teacher, but she hopes that programs like Orenda will one day be integrated into every school, giving all youth the opportunity to gain the knowledge and self-awareness that Orenda provides.

As someone who has done the “heart work” through the Orenda program, Abby feels fully prepared and excited to pass on what she’s learned to the next generation in Lethbridge, helping them embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and empowerment.

Four Things You Might Not Know About Me

  • Share your favorite self-care ritual.

I am a routine oriented person, so I love do my skin care of an evening and to do little affirmations throughout the day.

  • What's your favorite season and why?

I love fall. I love the leaves falling and the crisp chill in the air. I love the smell of apple pie and gathering with my family for thanksgiving.

  • Share a book, movie, or song that has had a significant impact on your life and why.

The song humble and kind by Tim McGraw. My mom and I used to sing this song when I was a kid and the premise of the song is that no matter what life throws at you if you stay humble and kind that you will ultimately come out better for it. It has always been a good reminder to be kind and the universe will be kind to you in return.

  • Describe a small, everyday moment that brings you joy.

When I get the opportunity to watch the sunset, I love just watching the sun set over

the mountains and the way the light changes as the sun sets.
